What Is FRP Grating?
FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) grating — also known as fiberglass grating, fibreglass grating or GRP grating — is a lightweight, high-strength composite flooring panel made from glass fiber reinforcement and corrosion-resistant thermoset resin. It is the most widely used term across North America, and the standard solution for industrial walkways, platforms and access flooring.
FRP grating combines the strength of glass fiber with the corrosion resistance of resin, giving you a flooring, walkway and platform solution that will not rust, rot or corrode — even in aggressive chemical, marine and wastewater environments. Unlike steel, FRP grating is non-conductive, low-maintenance and weighs only about one-quarter of equivalent steel panels, making it dramatically easier to handle and install.
FRP vs GRP vs Fiberglass: They are the same material. FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) is the term most used in the US and global industrial markets; GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) is common in the UK and Commonwealth; fiberglass grating is the plain-English name.
