FRP Grating Standards & Compliance

DIN 24537-3: Plastic Gratings Standard

What DIN 24537-3 covers, how it is used for structural design, and why it matters when you specify FRP grating.

What is DIN 24537-3

DIN 24537 is a series of German standards for gratings used as floor coverings. Part 3, published in August 2007, covers plastic gratings — the category that includes glass-fiber reinforced (FRP/GRP) molded and pultruded panels. It defines terminology, dimensions, tolerances and the static basis used when plastic gratings are designed as load-bearing flooring.

Scope and application

The standard is used together with structural design rules and load tables to verify a grating panel under point load and uniformly distributed load over a defined span and support spacing. It references the general planning fundamentals of structural design so that plastic gratings can be dimensioned consistently with steel and aluminium gratings.

Why it matters for FRP grating

Specifying FRP grating to DIN 24537-3 gives engineers a recognized, reproducible basis for span and load checks rather than relying on supplier claims alone. It is widely referenced across European grating manufacturers and in their load tables.
