Use the 50mm section when forklifts or stacked pallets drive or sit on the grating; if only pedestrians and pallet jacks are expected, the 40mm panel is lighter and cheaper. For purely pedestrian walkways the 38mm or 25mm sizes are adequate. Where a single long span must carry a heavy concentrated load, compare with heavy-duty pultruded grating, which is stronger in the span direction; molded 50mm remains preferable when loads arrive from both directions or when corrosion is extreme (vinyl ester).
